Chocolate Cupcake With Chocolate Icing and Crushed Walnuts Recipe

The moist, chocolatey cupcakes are topped with a rich, creamy chocolate icing and crunchy crushed walnuts. They're ideal for any chocolate fan.

  • Prep Time: 20 minutes
  • Cook Time: 20 minutes
  • Total Time: 40 minutes

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C) and prepare a cupcake pan with paper liners.
  • Whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda and salt in a medium mixing bowl.
  • Cream the butter and sugar in a separate large mixing bowl until light and fluffy.
  • One at a time, beat in the eggs, followed by the milk and vanilla extract.
  • Mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  • Fill the prepared cupcake liners about 3/4 full with the batter.
  • Bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the centre comes out clean.
  • Remove the cupcakes from the oven and place them on a wire rack to cool completely.
  • To make the chocolate icing, combine the powdered sugar, melted butter, cocoa powder, milk, and vanilla extract in a mixing bowl until smooth.
  • Spread the icing on top of the cooled cupcakes and top with the crushed walnuts.
