Chocolate Cupcakes with Caramel Sauce and Icing Recipe

These chocolate cupcakes are moist and rich, with a decadent caramel sauce and creamy icing on top. They are ideal for any special occasion or simply as a sweet treat.

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a muffin tin with cupcake liners.
  • Sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a medium mixing bowl.
  • Cream the butter and sugar together in a large mixing bowl for 3 minutes, or until light and fluffy.
  • Beat in the eggs one at a time, beating thoroughly after each addition.
  • Incorporate the vanilla extract.
  • In three parts, add the flour mixture, alternating with the milk in two parts, beginning and ending with the flour mixture.
  • Mix until everything is just combined.
  • Incorporate the boiling water until smooth.
  • Divide the batter evenly among the cupcake liners, filling them about two-thirds full.
  • Bake the cupcakes for 18-20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the centre comes out clean.
  • Allow the cupcakes to cool for 5 minutes in the pan before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  • In a medium saucepan, combine the sugar and water and cook, stirring occasionally, over medium-high heat until the sugar has dissolved.
  • Allow the mixture to come to a boil without stirring.
  • Cook for 5-7 minutes, or until the mixture turns a deep amber color.
  • Take the saucepan off the heat and carefully add the heavy cream.
  • Be cautious because the mixture will bubble and steam.
  • Until smooth, stir in the butter and vanilla extract.
  • Allow the caramel sauce to slightly cool.
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream the butter until it is light and fluffy.
  • Combine the powdered sugar, heavy cream, and vanilla extract in a mixing bowl and whisk until smooth and creamy.
  • Using a pastry bag, pipe or spread the frosting onto the cooled cupcakes.
  • Drizzle the caramel sauce over the tops of the cupcakes.
